On this amazing guided countryside e-bike tour, you’ll be taken through the beautiful Dutch countryside of Waterland to the north of Amsterdam, and onwards to the stunning city of Monnickendam.Â
There will be plenty of stories and photo opportunities along the way. This tour is suitable for confident and fit riders who can complete the full 40 km / 25 miles bike tour. We will provide you with a comfortable e-bike, which comes with pedal assist to make the ride a little easier.
Our friendly and fun local guide will take you from close by Central Station, along the IJ Boulevard where you will catch a ferry that will take you across the IJ, to Noord. Continuing on your bike, our tour takes you northwards along the North Holland Canal past a windmill and into the Dutch polder landscape with its many ditches and dikes. As we cycle through the charming medieval village of Broek in Waterland, you can not escape the feeling of peaceful calm that surrounds you.
Go Dutch at the cheese farm, with cheese and clog making
We’ll also visit a traditional Dutch cheese farm where you will see the traditional art of making wooden shoes and the famous Gouda cheese. Afterwards, you’ll be able to have a look around in their gift shop and taste some samples of authentic Dutch Gouda cheese.
On the way back to the city centre, we will go through the delightful historical town of Monnickendam and pass some tiny medieval villages.Â

Trip Details:
- The Countryside bike tour is suitable for people 12 years and older. A good level of fitness, health and biking skill is necessary.
- This guided bike tour is 40 km / 25 miles long and lasts 4 to 4.5 hours.
- Group size: maximum of 15 people in one group.
- Lunch: feel free to pack a lunch and bring a snack and drink along for the route or out at the cheese farm because while the farmer has cheese to eat the wooden shoes are not fun to nibble on unless you are a chipmunk. The best is to wear a backpack on the bicycle.
- We will provide a nice e-bike with handbrakes, 7 gears and raingear if necessary. Helmets are not required for this tour
- Time: The tour starts seven days per week at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm . Make sure to be 15 minutes in advance at the meeting point. We don’t wait after the starting time of the tour

What level of cycling experience do I need?
This tour is designed for confident cyclists. You should be comfortable riding a bike for a longer distance and able to cycle in light traffic. Thanks to the e-bike pedal assist, the ride is manageable, but it is not suitable for beginners. You can check availability and book the tour here:

What happens if the weather is bad?
We ride rain or shine. The Dutch countryside is beautiful in all conditions, and light rain is very normal in the Netherlands. We provide rain jackets if needed, although it is always best to bring your own.
We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a waterproof jacket. If you prefer extra flexibility, consider adding trip protection when booking.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. Standard bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the start of the tour. If you add trip protection during checkout, you can cancel up to 5 minutes before the tour starts.

How should I prepare for Dutch weather?
Wear comfortable cycling clothes, dress in layers, and bring a light waterproof jacket. Closed shoes are recommended. Even on sunny days, wind and sudden showers are possible in the countryside. So be prepared for the real Dutch experience 🙂
What is included in the tour?
The tour includes a high quality Dutch e-bike, a knowledgeable local guide, a scenic countryside route, a visit to a traditional farm, a cheese tasting, and a clog making demonstration.
Where does the tour start?
The tour starts at our shop near Amsterdam Central Station. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure so we can get everyone fitted to their e-bike and leave on time.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Participants must be confident cyclists and meet the minimum height requirement for the e-bikes. The minimum age is 12 years old, and riders must be at least 140 cm tall, which is approximately 4 feet 7 inches. This tour is generally suitable for teens and adults rather than younger children.

Do I need to bring anything with me?
We recommend bringing a water bottle, snacks or lunch, sunscreen on sunny days, and a small backpack for personal items. Helmets are not required but you are welcome to bring your own.
How safe is the Countryside E-Bike Tour?
Safety is our top priority. We provide a clear safety briefing before the tour starts, and our guides make sure everyone is comfortable on their e-bike before leaving Amsterdam. Helmets are available and we strongly recommend wearing one. Participants must be confident cyclists, as we will be riding on bike paths, country roads, and through small villages.
